la legrosega panduda, performance of Andrea Grotto
8 September 2013, Casso
On 8 september, 2013, al 07.00 pm for the finissage of the exhibition Roccedimenti. Fatte, non finite, le nature contemporanee., Dolomiti Contemporanee presented the performance la legrosega panduda, by Andrea Grotto.
The main stage of the first floor of the new venue of casso was filled up with fog that hided an original outfitting. Through the haze, a monstrous shape progressively appeared, half animal and half woman. A miscellaneus set of raw materials, rags, leather, bells, a flower and a couple of anters on the top.
The Legròsega, is a fictional character of the tradition of Casso, a terrible woman with goat legs, appearing when it’s dark to frighten children. While the fog disappeared, the shape of this mythological figure appeared as a presence. “pandùda” means “revealed”, “unveiled” in the dialect of Casso.
The public, worried at the very begin, got closer to the silhouette and discover the truth: it was just an imaginative projection. That’s why the legrosega is panduda/revealed.
