In the mountain paths, the rock faces offer a challenge that is often hard to refuse. The tracks are paths created by people called “openers”, but what most struck us are the names that these climbers have given to the tracks. Every track has a name, a very peculiar one, given to it by its climber, or by their feelings during the climb.
We wondered if climbers, following somebody else’s tracks, feel the same emotions, if they manage to grasp the suggestions of those who gave them their names, if before they face a slope they let themselves be carried by those who have left a mark before them.
In the “Raffaele Carlesso” rock gym of Dargago (PN), we have cleaned the surface of some rock slates with the intention of opening a track made of images, thus creating a dialogue between our “stories” and, if possible, the public. A Story made of pictograms in sequence. Stories that, in time, will be lost.
Erto-Casso 16-01-2014
It’s raining, today, in Casso, the rocks becomes darker where the water reaches them. In the morning, the paths are quiet, the only noises coming from crows flying overhead and the occasional car driving by. And yet, it seems like it’s not winter at all, and that it’s easier to seek red-ish and slimy stones in the nearby landslides while the veritcal rocks observe. There isn’t much time, the Sun will set very soon, the rain drums on our heads the rhythm of the ticking seconds.
