Arends‘ work is a reflection of the artist’s interest in regards to the maternity of the elements he uses to create his images, like metals, wood, and wax. The piece doesn’t concern itself with particular thematic characters, not does it want to express or to represent any specific subjective condition. The aim of the artwork is simply the representation of beauty in the composition and in the colours, the research of a pure harmony. The artist condenses the colors of the landscapes and skies that surround him each day in his home state of New Mexico in small-sized parallelepipedons. The series of parallelepipedons was almost created by chance, starting from objects found in an antique shop. Curiosity and experimentation bring the artist to shape pieces in which a minimalistic approach weaves itself together with abstraction, guiding their composition.
