The piece recounts the story of an invisible past, seen from the perspective of the ruins. A brief, melancholic revision of recent history and a visual narration of the birth and evanescence of an era through the elements of landscape and architecture. The video doesn’t dictate any definition, nor does it mandate any assertion, but rather takes the viewer – in a very open and evocative way – on a visual journey, a dream, through the devastation of war, and the post-conflict reconstruction effort. The artist, who usually specializes in drawing and painting, utilizes the animation technique of stop-motion for this piece, thus aiding the presentation of the process of formation and disappearance of a whole world. The film is inserted and displayed inside a wooden structure especially built for the “portable cinemas” series, as it aims to convey the message on an itinerant scope, and not via a static projection. The document, in fact, offers itself as a poetic interpretation of events that periodically resurface, with the goal of being a reminder that humanity and inhumanity coexist in the present.
