Pratchaya Phinthong/Untitled (wires)
Untitled (wires),Installazione, dimensioni variabili, 2012.

The artwork’s arrangement begins with the gathering of several sections of electrical cables which are extracted from their insulation shileds. The jackets and the conductors are separated to fulfill two different functions. The former, piled up on the floor, become the artwork installed inside the hall. The latter are, instead, fused together and transformed into screws of various sizes. The screws can thus be used by other artists in the same exhibit, for the setting up of their own pieces, or as installative components, or even for any other fastening and assembling needs that may arise, at the discretion of the team curating the exhibit’s display. Untitled (wires) thus assumes an open and free structure; the singular screw isn’t bound to a speficit event or associated to a particular object, but can instead be used in other contexts at a later date too, generating relationships.
