Performing Time is an example of the embodiment technique, in which the artist, as the name suggests, embodies time itself.
Moudov, documented by a 24-hour-long video, moves the clock’s hands, thus performing his concept of time, and giving it a body: he performs a simple task, speeding up or slowing down the movement of the hands. Following a personal inclination, indipendent from the Greenwich Main Time, he achieves the artificial construction of an apparently abstact concept, giving it substance with his own actions in a real physical space. Moudov‘s time isn’t a representation, but a creation of the artist himself as a result of his experience, a reflection on the artwork and its temporal binds inside the exhibition grounds.
