the goethe gallery partecipates in dc next (the second edition of the dolomiti contemporanee project) with a solo exhibition of the south tyrolean artist Hubert Kostner.
The exhibition is a site specific project, set in the apl 3, focused on the North ridge of Mount Agner (2871 a.s.l.), a classic wall, 1600 meters of vertical path, one of the highest in the Alps and the first in the Dolomties. The wall was climbed for the first time in 1921 by Iori, Andreoletti and Zanutti, whereas the first winter ascent was achieved by Messner and Mayerl in 1968.
Hubert Kostner’s work of art is a 1600 meters long climbing rope rolled into a ball and placed on a layer of dolomite rock gravel that fills the exhibition space out.
the artist and the climber share the same experience of continuous research and the same will of vertical exploration.
