the exhibition Future landscape is a joint project between the parco del contemporaneo and the Veneto region. It is supported by Venice’s departments of environment, sustainability and youth politics, and coordinated by marco polo system geie. Landscape is a concept that usually brings to mind issues regarding the conservation or revaluation of sites. European legislation uses the term landscape preservation, giving importance to the concept of cultural property. The contemporary gaze on landscape, offered by art, goes beyond the value’s issue and focuses on presenting a condition projecting to the future. as luisa onesio suggested, we should divorce the concept of landscape from the idea of natural beauty and tourist site to embrace the idea that any place can be a landscape. Art can then offer a perspective on the contingent moment without judging or consoling but presenting a reflection on the future. The present exhibition wants to re-interpret the meaning of what surrounds us. It is the continuation of a past exhibition held in Venice. Future landscape is conceived as a living exhibition that modifies its structure depending on the sites in which, it is displayed.
