Man, symbols, structure, a structure that lodges/imprisons the man and his symbols.
A bivouac of captivity. In Arruzzo’s artwork an example of his actual research on depiction is presented. The Paintings have men as protagonists (whom he defines as “painters”), inside impossible architectural structures, almost trying to sanctionthe possibility of a window of an “otherworld”, highlighting, though, the objective limits of the painting itself.
Arruzzo tries to build, through his artworks, a pictorial hypertext that draws heavily on a gigantic catalogue of previously archived images. This constitutes his visual and cultural baggage, which is put up through a double act in apparent juxtaposition: that of owning, through the pictorial act, the language of the illustration and, at the same time, of trying to attempt to make it free and autonomous from the original text, looking for a continuous cross-reference between autor, artwork and observer.
