wood, 1000x60x12 cm, 2014
The installative artwork by Filippo Manzini was entirely made in Casso, during a brief period of residence, with materials seeked and found in loco. It constitutes the result of a spatial and thematic reseach, carried out with attention in this spacific location. The elementary constructive structure creates a static tenson, amplified by the work on joints and equilibriums, which put the characteristics of the Space into play: corners, columns, surfaces, with which the wooden object creates a relationship.
The linearity of this minimal architecture work then prevalently on relations inner to the expositive space, but its projection to the outer is unavoidable, and very clear to the artist, whom effectively reasons on putting out his own spatial tensor. The tectonic element, reduced to the minimal term as well, represented by the covering, transforms the free geometry of the spatial and linear relationships into a protected setting: and the bivouac is nothing but this, a minimal setting of protection and projection, most definitely not a box.
