PANTA REI
dynamic re-production of today’s landscape, organic elements and food grade gelatin installation, 2015
«Surely a moment occurs where formalism exhausts itself; this happens when a new injection of content in the structure is able to destroy it, and thus appears a road towards innovation.» (Henri Lefebvre)
The complex work displayed in the exhibit generates itself starting from some istances and perceptions: it’s a sort of mould-made survey of the territory, where the territory is intended not only as a system of physical locations, but as a living ecosystem of landscape, people and relationships. The Recognition and pulsating restitution of contemporary geographies of an apparently static and never revewed territory, corresponds to the generation of new connective scripts, which have nothing to do with the in-vitro preservation of elements typical of this context.
Same shape, new nature, new reading.
New points of view and new approaches. New possibilities.
Panta rai, everything is mobile.
CUM-PANIS
unexpected relations, promordial sharing, starter dough, 2015
«The history of disasters demonstrates that for the most part we are social animals in ravenous search of connection, other than a purpose and meaning to give our lives. And this history suggests that, if we’re made like this, then our daily life in the majority of the world is a disaster that calamities at times offer us the opportunity to transform.» (Rebecca Solnit, A paradise in hell, Fandango libri, Rome 2009)
The term compagno (Eng..: partner), from the latin cum and panis, means sharing bread with someone. Thus, it obtains an act of primordial sharing, digit at the base of the purest relational practices. The project is a process that gains life from a mass of starter yeast, created especially for it, distributed among some families of the two hamlets of Erto and Casso. Through the entrustment and fostering of the starter dough numerous anthropological components manifest themselves. A litmus paper of the social territory of Erto and Casso through the filters of time and care. Care of oneself, one’s environment, one’s life.
WASTESCAPE
fertile waste, potato and carrot skin, flour, water, salt, 2015
Separation and isolation. Difference and deviation.
From residual elements coming from gardens of the local territory to plastic elements, bordering on sculpture-like, and edible. Organic waste like a metaphor of the constellation of waste of this territory, social wase, urban wate in the field of action. A visceral experience of this mute but eloquent land. In pain, but vital.
